In 2018, I participated in Fargo’s “Good For Nothing” event, a 24-hour creative sprint focused on supporting local non-profit organizations. As the sole graphic designer on my team, I collaborated with a group of volunteers—most of whom I had just met—to develop impactful design solutions under tight time constraints. The experience challenged me to prioritize tasks, stay focused, and communicate effectively within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Our team was paired with Diamond in the Ruff, a local pet rescue organization. Following their existing brand guidelines, I designed a promotional banner for use at charity events, utilizing only the limited graphics they could provide due to budget and time constraints. To further reduce costs, I reformatted an informational handout to fit standard letter-size paper, eliminating the need for specialty printing. Additionally, we created a custom social media profile frame to help increase visibility and engagement online.
Despite the intense timeline, we delivered a cohesive set of materials that met the organization’s needs—an experience that strengthened my adaptability and problem-solving skills in real-world design challenges.
